New York City Developments to Watch in 2025

11th February 2025

As New York City advances into 2025, a series of transformative developments are reshaping its urban landscape. From soaring skyscrapers to innovative retail spaces, here are some key projects to watch:

350 Park Avenue: A New Icon in Midtown Manhattan

Plans are underway for 350 Park Avenue, a supertall office tower designed by Foster + Partners. Developed collaboratively by Vornado Realty Trust and Rudin Management, with Citadel LLC as the anchor tenant, this 62-story building is set to rise approximately 1,585 feet, offering 1.8 million square feet of commercial space. The design features a series of glass flutes, creating a distinctive, modern aesthetic. The project is currently navigating the city's public review process, with completion anticipated by 2032.

Time Out Market at Union Square: A Culinary Hub

Later this year, Union Square will welcome the Time Out Market, a 10,000-square-foot food hall located in the Zero Irving building. This venue will feature seven kitchens, a bar, a stage for performances, and a 70-seat outdoor terrace. Emphasizing local and emerging culinary talents, the market aims to offer a curated taste of New York City's diverse food scene. The existing Urbanspace food hall will close temporarily for updates before the fall opening.

Printemps' U.S. Debut at One Wall Street

French luxury department store Printemps is set to open its first U.S. location on March 21st at One Wall Street in the Financial District. Spanning 54,000 square feet, the store aims to redefine 'New Retail' by controlling merchandising and offering an opulent interior designed by Laura Gonzalez. Highlights include the landmark Red Room, a shoe salon, and exclusive dining spots like Maison Passerelle. This move seeks to fill the void left by upscale stores like Barneys New York, targeting the neighborhood's growing affluent demographic.

Residential Developments: Addressing Housing Demand

In response to the city's housing needs, over 82,000 new homes are planned across the five boroughs. These developments range from luxury condominiums to affordable housing units, aiming to accommodate diverse demographics and income levels.

Market Trends: A Dynamic Landscape

The New York City real estate market is experiencing notable trends in 2025. Cooperative apartments (co-ops) are making a comeback, luxury condominiums continue to thrive, and amenities have become essential for attracting buyers. Additionally, the market is influenced by factors such as interest rates and the ongoing impact of remote work, prompting both buyers and investors to adapt to these shifts.

These developments and trends underscore New York City's resilience and its continuous evolution as a global metropolis, offering new opportunities for residents, businesses, and investors alike.
