Southern Costa Rica coast line has remained pristine and isolated, cut off by a lack of roads, while other regions in Costa Rica underwent urbanization and growth. Suddenly the Ballena coast near Dominical was on the map. Visitors to this newly accessible area found untouched rainforest, mountain, and coastal habitats still teeming with wildlife. With great foresight the Costa Rican government had in 1990 created Ballena National Marine Park, which sets aside more than eight miles (13 k.) of shoreline and 11,120 acres (4,500 ha.) of ocean surrounding Ballena and Las Tres Hermanas Islands, which form part of the largest coral reef on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Other area preserves and refuges help guarantee that much of the zone will remain protected. Then in 2008 the government decided to finally complete the gate way to southern Costa Rica and pave the main hwy from Manuel Antonio to Dominical which was the last 38 kilometers of road not paved on the southern coast line. With the completion all the bridges and paving this year our market has seen a big push for 1 tourism and 2 investment opportunities. Right in the center of all of this sits one of the best condo/villa developments on the southern coast line Canto Del Mar.
