Description
A Huge Rainforest, River & Waterfall Property With a BRAND-NEW Jungle-View Luxury Home on a Massive 4.32 Acre Lot – PLUS an Additional Plantel ready for Development – Just 5 Minutes from Uvita and 13 Minutes from Marino Ballena National Park.
THE LOCATION – 250m ELEVATION ABOVE UVITA WITH VIEWS TOWARDS THE EAST
Situated in the upper reaches of the sought-after Union Road address, this property descends a mountain ridge above the nearby resort town of Uvita. But you wouldn’t know it as the east-facing views extend across endless mountain, valley and rainforest vistas, mere foothills of the towering 4000-meter Cordillera Central range…so the vibe of the property is a true ‘middle of nowhere Costa Rica’ feeling that is only betrayed by knowing that a few minutes’ drive will bring you to all the essential (and extraneous!) services and amenities of buzzing Uvita.
YOUR NEW HOUSE – 3 BED – Currently Under Construction – Projected Completion at the end of 2025.
This designer 3-bedroom, 2-level home define the epitome of luxury. The upward-sloping roof, floor-to-ceiling glazing, an infinity pool with jungle & mountain views, covered patio, covered parking and detailed design & finish conspire to make this one of the most exclusive homes in the local area.
The home offers privacy, ease of access, magical views and will benefit from ample daily sun and frequent cooling mountain breezes.
THE PROPERTY & PLANTEL
The roughly rectangular 4.32 acre property descends from near the top of the ridge down to the deep valley river, a fall from 250m to 170m asl, approximately. The access road and the home are situated near the top of the property while the majority of the lower area is covered by a rainforest which extends all the way down to the river – accessible via a prepared path.
There is plenty of space to develop the nearby plantel, located just below the new house – a home or two, guest accommodation, cabins, a large lap pool, jacuzzi, tropical orchard, beautifully manicured gardens… just let your imagination be your guide!
THE RIVER & WATERFALL
Just below the property a mountain river cuts a steep channel on its way to the nearby Pacific. The Ballena River forms the eastern border of the lot and a prepared path will take you straight to its refreshing waters. Imagine starting your morning with a serene walk into the vibrant rainforests teeming with life – you dip your feet in the cool river waters while sipping a hot coffee, grown just over the hills by generations of Costa Rican coffee farmers. Or how about a few afternoon drinks and snacks with your family and friends, kids splashing in the peaceful swim holes while you catch up on the day’s events and wander at the sight of the jungle waterfall?
THE VIEWS
The soaring, 1000m high coastal mountains are the stars of the property - in the summer their vibrant tropical slopes stand in stark contrast to the deep blue sky and brilliantly white fair-weather clouds. The green season brings towering waterfalls that descend their nearly vertical slopes. The always changing interplay of mountain-top clouds, valley mists and trees bursting with colorful seasonal flowers create a beautiful landscape painting that is ever-changing – and one that come complete with the sounds howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, tree frogs and so many others critters.
THE LOCAL WILDLIFE
Such a proximity to nature and wide range of nearby habitats will bring plenty of jungle wildlife to the property – monkeys (howler, capuchin, squirrel and spider), scarlet macaws, several species of toucans and toucanets, sloths, anteaters, poison dart frogs, tree frogs, giant moths, coatis, brilliant blue morpho butterflies and many other critters will be your new tropical neighbors. And perhaps you will catch a sight of the secretive jaguarundi – or maybe even a wandering tapir or jaguar? The lot is literally touching a huge swath of sprawling mountain jungles, so always expect to be visited by curious creatures.
WATER
Legal Water is a big deal in our area – and this property excels with a 7,500 liter water tank and authorized access to the pristine, crystal-clear treasure of the nearby mountain river. This setup is plentiful for satisfying all the needs of the property including future household, pool, and irrigation use. This is pure rainwater which filters down the slopes of the nearby mountains – you will not only marvel at the view but also drink the view (whether with a splash of lemon, in your tea or coffee, or gracing your tropical margarita).
LOCAL AREA
Just 5 minutes away and 250m downhill, Uvita is a fast-growing center of tourism, adventure and expat living – it has a wide mix of cafes, adrenaline & eco-tourism, shopping, fine dining, and exciting nightlife. Here you will also find everyday necessities - supermarkets, legal & accounting offices, doctors, dentists, veterinary clinics, car mechanics, beauty parlors, beer breweries – you name it!
And 13 minutes away is Marino Ballena National Park, a world-famous surfing, whale watching & SCUBA destination. The park’s beaches are said to be among the most beautiful in the world and the ‘Whale’s Tail’ sand and rock formation is an easily accessible natural wonder. Twice a year, migrating Humpback Whales become the stars of the local area – we get both the Southern Pacific (July-October) and Norther Pacific (December – March) populations converging in our waters. Surfing, tanning, beach soccer/ volleyball, sports fishing, and SCUBA trips to the nearby Caño Island are some of the other popular Marino Ballena activities.
