Description
Casa Escondida: Tucked away among lush tropical landscapes just 10 minutes from Tamarindo, Casa Escondida is a remarkable private estate offering the perfect balance of seclusion, convenience, and luxury. Located only minutes from supermarkets, international schools, and the charming town of Santa Rosa, this unique property enjoys a privileged setting while remaining just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Liberia International Airport.
Designed by renowned architect Scott Woods and thoughtfully crafted as a family compound, Casa Escondida is a property unlike any other in the area. Whether envisioned as a multigenerational estate, a luxury retreat center, a wellness destination, or a private sanctuary for family and friends, the possibilities are endless.
Set on nearly one hectare of beautifully landscaped grounds, the estate is surrounded by mature fruit trees, native vegetation, and abundant wildlife. Monkeys regularly visit the property, while the sounds of nature create a peaceful atmosphere throughout the year. The expansive setting and natural surroundings make it particularly appealing for wellness-focused living, yoga retreats, or those simply seeking a deeper connection with nature.
Offered fully furnished and turnkey, the property has been meticulously maintained and is ready to be enjoyed from day one.
The Main Residence
The heart of the estate is the spectacular main home, offering approximately 2,852 square feet (265 m²) of living space. Designed to embrace Costa Rica's indoor-outdoor lifestyle, the residence features three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and multiple gathering spaces.
Its most striking feature is the elevated rancho-style great room, seemingly floating above the jungle canopy. This extraordinary living area can be enjoyed fully open to the surrounding nature while remaining protected by screens, or enclosed and air-conditioned for year-round comfort.
Soaring ceilings, generous entertaining spaces, and a beautifully crafted kitchen with premium finishes create an inviting environment for hosting family and guests. A large central island, walk-in pantry, and dedicated BBQ area complete the home's functional yet elegant design.
Independent Guest Residence
Perfect for visitors or extended family, the second residence offers approximately 1,291 square feet (120 m²) of living space with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living room, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Adding to its appeal, the guest house enjoys its own private swimming pool and outdoor lounge area, providing complete independence from the main residence. This separation also creates excellent potential for rental income or hosting retreat participants.
Private Casita
A charming standalone casita of approximately 376 square feet (35 m²) provides an additional private accommodation option. Complete with a kitchenette, full bathroom, dedicated parking, and its own sense of privacy within the estate, it is ideal for guests, staff, or a couple seeking a quiet retreat.
Wellness & Flex Space
Overlooking the main pool area, a fully air-conditioned flex space currently functions as a gym but could easily serve as a yoga studio, creative workspace, home office, treatment room, or additional guest accommodation.
Resort-Style Outdoor Living
Outdoor living is at the center of the Casa Escondida experience. The main entertainment area features a heated resort-style swimming pool with a swim-up bar, expansive sun decks, and a covered rancho surrounded by mature tropical landscaping.
The grounds also include:
- Caretaker's residence near the entrance of the property
- 645-square-foot (60 m²) workshop and storage building
- Covered parking for two vehicles
- Additional covered parking for jet skis, motorcycles, or recreational equipment
- Small skate ramp
- Fully fenced perimeter
- Security camera system with remote app access
- A Truly Unique Opportunity
Properties of this scale, privacy, and versatility are increasingly difficult to find in the Tamarindo area. Casa Escondida offers the rare opportunity to own a private jungle sanctuary while remaining just minutes from world-class beaches, restaurants, schools, and everyday conveniences.
Whether you are searching for a luxury family estate, an income-producing retreat property, or a place to create lasting memories for generations to come, Casa Escondida delivers an exceptional lifestyle in one of Costa Rica's most desirable regions.
